Why Should I Join?
Our doors to Jewish life are open to all. Join us to worship, study, seek comfort, share and celebrate the holidays and lifecycle events, become part of our community, and make life-long friends. We are proud to have been a part of the Plainview-Old Bethpage community since 1955. While our history provides us with a rich heritage, embracing new congregants ensures that we will be here to serve generations to come. We encourage you to get to know our Rabbi, Cantor, Director of Education, educators, and current members by attending our Friday evening Shabbat services and by participating in our programs and activities. You are the future of Temple Beth Elohim!
There is no time like the present! Our membership rolls are always open. Many families join in the spring and summer, anticipating the start of our religious school in September and the High Holidays. To encourage new membership throughout the year, we prorate dues after January 1st.
Curious about our membership fees? Please call the temple office. Our office staff will arrange for one of our many volunteers to meet with you to give you a tour of our synagogue, answer any questions you might have, and provide you with our fee structure. Temple Beth Elohim makes every effort to accommodate prospective members (as well as current members) from all economic backgrounds. Our dedicated Retention Committee is always available to discuss your concerns.

What if we are an Interfaith family?
You are not alone – Temple Beth Elohim has many interfaith families, from all walks of life, religious backgrounds and ethnicities. We welcome Jewish singles, single parents, interfaith families, Jews of color, Jews by choice, and Jewish families in all their diversity, including couples and singles, with or without children. All are welcome to participate fully in all synagogue activities.
The siddur (prayer book) offers transliteration for all prayers and our worship services incorporate a mix of Hebrew and English. Our Cantor has a website with prayers and songs used during worship services for you to listen to and practice with. Non-Jewish family members can participate in all worship services and share in the service in a meaningful way.
